1st Logo

(1996-2004)

Nicknames: "Majestic Hemdale", "The Paintstroke Arch", "The Tree Bottom Lights"

Logo: On a black background, we see an arched teal paintstroke wiping in where we see "OVERTURE" in Trajan Pro font being shined over. As the paintbrush finishes drawing, "OVERTURE" appears in from teal to white. we see two lights from the bottom morph or form three lights from one light on top, forming an abstract "W". While that happens, we see text "HEMDALE" and then a white line appears between and "HOME ENTERTAINMENT" below the line.

FX/SFX: Everything. This is pretty good CGI for the time, but...

Cheesy Factor: ...when the paintstroke wipes, you can see it protrude a little. Also, there is visible pixelization when the three lights form an abstract "W".

Music/Sounds: A sudden synth, followed by whooshes and a drum.

Availability: Uncommon, same as Hemdale Home Video.

Scare Factor: Medium, bordering on high. The sudden synth and ominous nature of the logo are bound to scare some.
